Peter Doppler is a sensitive, somewhat insecure psychotherapist. He worked with Jonas Kahnwald following the death of the teen's father. He lives with his wife Charlotte and daughters Franziska and Elisabeth. He also looks after his elderly father Helge, who suffers from dementia. Peter's marriage is broken. For a long time he secretly visited the transsexual prostitute Bernadette. He and Charlotte have never really spoken openly about it.
Discovery in the bunker
On the evening of November 4th, 2019, Peter is alone in the bunker when the body of a young boy with burnt eyes appears out of the blue. A student card reveals the body's identity: Mads Nielsen.
Peter calls Mads’ father Tronte. They are standing over the body completely baffled when older Claudia Tiedemann enters the bunker. She knew this would happen. Claudia convinces the men to leave Mads' body in the forest where it will be found by the police the next day. She leaves them with her leather notebook which details the events of the coming days.
Peter doesn't tell his wife Charlotte what happened in the bunker, making him a suspect in the disappearance of Mikkel Nielsen in her eyes. Mikkel vanished on the same night.
